Welcome to Benitses, Corfu

Hi, I’m Teo. I’ve lived in Benitses for decades and watched this old fishing village transform into a modern coastal destination. But unlike other spots on Corfu, Benitses never became just a sterile resort. Behind our modern marina, tavernas, and cafés, the traditional old village streets, mountain paths, and a genuine Corfiot community are still very much alive.

Because I have lived here through the village’s biggest transformations, I have documented all its history from a quiet 1950s community to 1980 crowds up to today.

Is Benitses a Good Place to Stay?

If you want a central base to explore Corfu without the overwhelming crowds of massive resorts, Benitses offers fantastic value. Because it is a real, year-round village, it is packed with local supermarkets, bakeries, and medical services, meaning you have everything you need within a short walk.

It is also a perfect launchpad for day trips. As the village is touching the hills, you can easily rent a car or scooter here to head up into the cooler nearby mountain villages like Gastouri, Agii Deka, and Stavros, where the views over the Ionian Sea are spectacular.

The sea activities are also excellent, plus the ease of taking a day boat trip to the mainland or Paxos from the new marina. Book in offices at the promenade.

In the evenings, our waterfront tavernas stay relaxed late into the night without turning into noisy party strips.

Who should skip it? If you are looking for mega-resorts, exclusive beach clubs, or wild all-night nightlife, Benitses will feel too quiet for you.

Transport & Practical Info

Parking lots

Parking in Benitses is generally accessible but can be difficult during the peak summer months.

While most spots are free, the New Port/Marina area may charge fees. Key parking locations include the New Port itself, areas near Agios Dimitris Church, a large municipal space between the church and Potamaki Hotel, and smaller lots further south near the Corfu Maris Hotel.

Drivers can also find spaces along wider sections of the main road, though these fill up quickly in July and August. Once parked, the village, beach, and waterfront are easily explored on foot.
